www.womenshealthresearch.org

Bottom line, women are still under-represented in clinical trials and even if women are included, often the results are not stated according to gender so that we can benefit from knowledge specifically for female bodies.

A study found: from 1997 – 2006. They found that women were underrepresented, based on general population incidence …. women enrolled in all trial was 27% versus 53% of all patients with CVD.

In another study: Women made up around 31% of those in coronary artery disease trials overall – up from 9% in 1970. And women 17% of participants in trials on cholesterol lowering drugs, yet millions of women take these medications. (women may suffer more side effects).

A new study by NYU dental researchers has uncovered evidence that pregnant women with periodontal (gum) disease face an increased risk of developing gestational diabetes even if they don’t smoke or drink, a finding that underscores how important it is for all expectant mothers – even those without other risk factors – to maintain good oral health.

“Knowledge is productive only if it is applied to make a difference. “

– Peter F. Drucker
Post Capitalistic Society

Your goal is to gain knowledge and information about yourself and your loved ones that will make a difference in your lives over the long term.

Start with what knowledge and skills you have

Every time you drive a car you automatically observe and react to information from your dashboard and use it to your advantage – to drive safely to where you are going.

This is now automatic. It was not when you were learning. Look at the different types of information that you use:

How much fuel you have

How fast you are driving

How hot your engine is

Fancier cars provide more detailed information that you can survey to see if anything needs your attention. You depend on the system to provide information to help you identify problems.
You are comfortable with this process. You have the skills to handle this.
Now use those same skills to learn how to maintain and extend your body’s wellness. And then apply those skills to helping your loved ones!
Always work with a doctor or wellness professional to learn specifically what the information means to your body. Your body is very, very complex. Our tools give you some basic ideas.
Just like there is a complex engine inside your car, there are complex organs and systems inside your body that your doctor can help you understand just a few of the complexities inside you.
